Everyone told me that World Race birthdays are the best because Racers celebrate better than anyone else and….

They were right.

It only helped that my birthday was during an official debrief and so close to Halloween, which always helps make my big day a whale of a time.

So here’s a little play-by-play of how October the 29th went:

The four teams that were here celebrated me pretty big by singing happy birthday to me at midnight. I’m all about being efficient and taking advantage of a full day, so mad props to those kids.

I woke up around 6:45am because that’s what my body does in Africa. I couldn’t find any honey, which was sad because my throat hurt, so I just had tea and corn flakes with Amy and Ashli (who are awesome).

I watched a really awesome video that my besties at home made. I laughed, I cried, I laughed more and I made other people jealous that their friends weren’t as awesome as mine. (You can see said video right here, just scroll to the bottom of the post)

My blogs had been stalked and comments were left, which is ALWAYS a good thing to wake up to, but even more so on my birthday. Let’s be real.

The rest of the morning consisted of people telling me happy burpday and happy bethday, lots of walking around and sitting and chatting and reading and stalking this hilarious looking cat that we dubbed Damien. You’ll see why.

Ben Stahl bought me some honey so I could have some honey and water (which is the best thing for sore throats. That’s what Auntie Vivian taught SMiller).

I spent the afternoon hugging everyone on our squad AND our incredible squad parents because they all arrived at some point during the day, which basically made me feel like everyone was coming to this super cool place (Old Vic’s Traveller’s Inn – I recommend it) JUST for my birthday. I mean LAINE came back, which is SO FLIPPING AWESOME AND I'M REAL EXCITED!!! And I was reunited with Bezy.

Around 4:30pm some of us ladies ventured out into the wild blue yonder to this place called Jock & Java for a bit of a birthday dinner. I had some chicken strips and steak fries and a LOT of laughter and fun. I enjoy every moment I get to spend with these ladies.

At 6:30pm we were retrieved and made our way back to Old Vic’s by way of Betor House. At this particular pit stop the van was excruciatingly hot – to the point of suffocating, which is hilarious if you were there, but I won’t go into more detail because it would be hard to explain to the depth of its amusement.

We met back up with the squad at Old Vic’s around 7:00pm and began our long walk BACK to the Betor House, some of us in costume. I was dressed up like Ben Stahl who is my Chripster bru. We dress alike anyway so I only had to borrow his hat.

Betor House was a rave until 9pm so the neighbors wouldn’t call the cops on us. During these few hours I got a cake, two birthday cards, lots of dancing, a somewhat dislocated shoulder that I fixed myself (I’m obvi too old now to be jumping over couches to Shake It Off), some super awesome gifts from my teammates, and a lot of fun chats with really fun people.

After our long walk back to Old Vic’s (we saw a dead snake.) I thought about watching a movie, but was fooled when I found the DVD case to Casablanca empty so I just chatted with Ashli until midnight and went to bed.

These details don’t do justice to how awesome this day was, but perhaps the pictures will help a bit. To my dear iFam, thank you so much for showering me with love and blessings and gifts and your beautiful smiles. You guys are so grand. To Madi and Sar and everyone who made a cameo in this ridiculous video, I have no words. You are kindred spirits to the nth degree. I love you guys a hot ton.
