What’s up, people?! I am so stoked to be writing my first blog, but the stoke is equally as abundant when I think about each and everyone of you reading my blog! Thanks for being here.
For those of you who I have not met yet, my name is Ben Wolfe and I am embarking on an across-the-world adventure in January of 2022! I am about to turn 23 and am living in Savannah, Georgia. Back in December, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in both communication studies and religion. I’ve been fortunate to go on a few trips to serve people in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica, each of which I grew exponentially both in my love for God, but also in my love for people. I first heard about the World Race from my friend, Ethan Floyd (shouts out to Uncle E), who went on the World Race back in 2017. After hearing a ton of stories from him about all of the adventures he had during his time on the World Race, I immediately was intrigued by the idea of traveling the world and serving others. To this day, every time I hang out with Uncle E, he is telling me all about all of the ways the he grew throughout the trip and even though he hasn’t grown any in height, his spiritual growth is something that is clear and evident. I come away from each conversation with him more and more excited to launch in January.
I will be leaving in January and heading to places like East Africa, Southern Africa, Asia, and South America. STOKED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
I would be lying if I said I hadn’t had the thought of “What in the world am I doing?”, at least, ten to twenty times since I applied to go on the World Race, however I keep reminding myself of one of my favorite quotes by an author named Bob Goff, “Loving people the way Jesus did is great theology”. This quote not only epitomizes my purpose in the World Race, but also my purpose in life. I want to constantly be thinking about how I can better love those around me in a manner that would resemble Jesus’ love, whether that be people that are going on the race with me or people that I will be meeting in the various countries I travel to throughout the race.
When an awesome, life-changing opportunity like this comes along, I think it is really easy to count myself out or feel like I am really unqualified, but that is exactly when I get right down to the basics and focus on what I can control. I can control how I love God and I can control how I love my neighbors.
If you wanna hit me up to talk about this awesome adventure my phone number is 912-398-9926 and I would love to talk through about some ways that you could support me. Please subscribe to my blog if you wanna stay updated on all things Ben/World Race.
