The World Race has begun.
It’s hard to believe I’ve spent a week here in Medellin, Colombia already. So much has happened.
A basic, brief timeline since January 3rd would look something like this:
- Attend launch and say goodbye to my family
- Travel (with minimal sleep)
- Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale
- F.L. to Miami
- Spent 14 hours in Miami till flying to Bogota, Colombia
- Bogota to Medellin
Since then, I’ve gotten to be part of so many incredible things.
I’ve gone on prayer walks.
I’ve helped give out bread and water to homeless and addicts.
I’ve evangelized and seen many come to know Christ.
People have been healed.
I’ve gone up the mountain to minister and love on kids and families at a displacement community.
I’ve helped at the homeless shelter which is part of the ministry we’re staying with.
I’ve grown so much personally as well as in my grasp of Spanish (which is still not good by the way… but we’re getting there).
And that’s only the beginning.
My favorite memory so far though, is definitely going up the mountain.
We took two days to travel up to a community where there are many people who’ve been displaced (both within Colombia and from other countries). We spent the time going door to door, handing out school supplies to the kids as well as praying for and ministering to the families.
The kids especially were incredible. Once we got to know them, they wouldn’t leave us alone (in a good way). We got to play with them, love on them, teach them about Jesus, and we even taught each other bits of our own languages. They really loved hopping on our backs and shoulders and being carried around. I carried a seven-year-old boy several miles the second day, just talking with him and having fun. It even got to the point where the kids would yell out to us “Mi Caballo” (my horse) when they wanted to be picked up.
That’s just one of the many stories I have already. God is making such an impact through the ministry and people here, and I am so privileged to get to be a part of it. There is definitely darkness around some people and areas here, but there is also so much light and life. The potential is incredible!
So, that’s a quick run-down of what’s been happening and how God is moving. Please continue to pray for the people in this city and those ministering to them as well, including my squad. Your prayer has so much power in it, and I can’t wait to see what God does next!
“…The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few, therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matt. 9:37-38
God Bless!
