I’ve been reflecting a lot lately. As I get ready to graduate from college in about a month, I find myself looking forward to the future with so much excitement, and yet, I look back over these past three years and realize just how much God has moved in my life.

Coming out of high school, I was very introverted and timid. I was a christian, but I didn’t live out my faith. I found myself seeking worldly success rather than eternal significance, and because of this, my faith weakened.

Now, as I look back though, I realize that God was leading me the whole time. While it was painful in the moment, God was tearing down the lies and throwing out all the junk in my life, and I can honestly say that if my foundation hadn’t been shaken, I wouldn’t be where I am today with this amazing opportunity in front of me.

I’ve been reading the book “Seven Days in Utopia” (I would highly recommend it), and God has been showing me just how involved in my life He really is. While we can’t see it in the moment, or at least it’s hard to, God is so intricately involved in our everyday choices and lives. He cares so much for us that we can’t even fathom the number of thoughts He has towards us. It’s so amazing that the God of the universe cares so much for us, and that He guides even our small choices or steps of faith; all the while leading us to even more than we ever dreamed of.

Now, even though God leads us out of the valley, in that moment, we are still in a valley and it can be tough. You find yourself seemingly stuck and scared to take the next step. But, to quote part of “Seven Days in Utopia:” “because the voice of the master came from within the boat (Christ within us), there was ultimately no risk involved in this venture (your step of faith). Jesus was going with him. The real risk was not to go.” In other words, the only time we risk anything in this life is when we don’t follow Christ. Because He is so involved, and cares for us so deeply, all we need to do is look up, trust that He is moving, and take the step of faith He is calling us to, because it will lead to so much more than we ever thought possible in the moment.

So, I want to challenge you (this is for me as well). Whatever step God is calling you to take or whatever He is leading you through, I encourage you to take the next step and risk it for God. Whether it’s something as simple as talking to the new person at church or something larger like going on the World Race, risk it all for God.
