Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength…

I told you I was going to give you a quick update with my upcoming plans so that’s what this is. However, I’m not going to say much is concrete with me right now…This whole process is fluid down here, especially to begin with. What I can tell you right now is this:

Tomorrow, I will be picking up a girl named Amanda from the airport who will be in DR/Haiti from anywhere of 3 to months through August or so. I’m currently in Santo Domingo and in somewhat of a holding pattern. AIM has a few individuals and teams coming through the area and I’ll be here coordinating some of that and we have a few others down here that will take care of the rest of that. SO…my time in Santo Domingo may be a bit up in the air at this very moment for the next few days.

I want to thank you all for your prayers while I have been down here. God has gone way before us to prepare the way for us to help prepare the way for Him. Some of that has been contacts in the past days and some of that was done in setup years ago which has been crazy to see. We’ve got enough information, contacts and places currently to be up and running through the DR at some capacity. Now that we’ve got a bit of a handle with where we’re going from this end, it will be time for me to be heading into Haiti to help get things set up from that end of the island.

We just had a team headed up by Seth Barnes who went to a number of places in Haiti. The situation we find ourselves in right now is that there are a number of NGO’s that have incredible surpluses of food and supplies in storage. However, what they don’t have is a safe network and way to get those supplies and food to the people. They are working on organizing a plan where organizations and churches can “adopt” refugee camps and cities. This adoption process is to find a way to ensure that someone is responsible for figuring out the needs of each community and then getting those needs met with the resources they have stored up. That’s where we come in.

We currently have a man named Lanny who has been doing a terrific job of contacting and mobilizing pastors in Haiti. AIM has worked with orphanages, pastors and communities in the past so we already have a pretty extensive network. The group that just went in had multiple meetings with pastors and leaders of communities. To put it in perspective, they had one meeting in particular where we brought together over 200 pastors that we’re relatively to closely connected with together for a vision meeting. Now most of these pastors lead multiple churches. Needless to say, we already have a pretty extensive network getting set into place to help getting supplies to people in a hurry. What we don’t have are all of the supplies. We were working on finding supply routes from DR to Haiti which we still may need long term, but we’re putting that a bit on hold for right now.

SO, what does that mean for me? As soon as I get a couple people into the country and up to speed with the progress and contacts we’ve made thus far here, we’ll be heading into Port au Prince area to help Lanny. Our job will be to do whatever he needs done. Realistically it will probably look a bit like what we did on this side. We’ll be looking for contacts, connections and safe places for people and supplies. Our job is to try to get as much work done ahead of time so that once the airport opens we can hit the ground running with teams in a way that allows the people coming down to not have to worry about logistics at all.

ok, I hope that gives you something to be praying about 🙂
