I have to give a quick shout out to my cousin Kurt Prond because I’m listening to his cd right now…In fact I would encourage you to go to Itunes and download it or at least one song. “Be still my soul” is probably my favorite of his and tends to often be the thing I need to hear the most.

I am currently sitting at Betor House in Nelspruit, South Africa and there is no better (pun intended) place for me to be today. You can thank my dad for my sometimes dry sense of humor. Actually talking of my dad, the older I grow the clearer I see how blessed I have been to have the parents God has given me. I don’t think you or he will ever truly know the thankfulness I have for him. Likewise I am thankful for the blessings of my Father…

My brother deal (dan) can probably post and tell you whose quote this is, but I’ve heard that God is always on time, rarely early and never late. I’ve started to appreciate God’s timing more and more as He continually reveals how much He truly is in control and knows what is going on. He orchestrates a song called life in us that tends to be wonderfully raw but in the end creates some echoes that resonate for eternity…(thank you gladiator)

Timing…while standing on a bus with 90 plus people for 17 hours a day after being on another bus for 16, I thought about the time I have spent this month traveling. I don’t know exacty hours and minutes or anything but a rough estimate for the number of hours we will have spent this month on the road (sometimes the term road would be more than a stretch) equals about 130 hours. A vast majority of that was not what most people would consider “comfortable driving” either but I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Along the way I picked up something or other that left me with fatigue, fever, sore throat, aches, headache and dehydration. At the border back into South Africa I saw a swine flu checklist and Mel looked at me and was like “uhhh don’t you have all those symptoms?” Thankfully the answer was no…the two I didn’t have were diarhea and vomiting (the two I would rather not have). Regardless, when we got to the Betor house which has become a bit of an oasis and home away from home for us, we thought it was wise to take a malaria test. The only problem was that we couldn’t get my finger to bleed even though we were jabbing it really hard with the metal pricker. Turns out I was too dehydrated to draw much blood at that time…or so I was told.

Last night I spent my time going back and forth from feeling fine to having a big fever and sweating like a madman (maybe even a sweaty toothed madman?) to feeling like I was sleeping in a walk in freezer. After feeling like my fever broke like four times and countless trips to the bathroom I woke this morning with nothing more than a sore throat and a few aches…Praise God that for the timing of having a bed and a safe house with people who are like family in order to set my body, mind and spirit a bit more at rest…To put it in perspective I took my first shower in 14 days yesterday and had my first meal that wasn’t really on the road in a long time. Rest is good.

Anyway, His timing is good and has been revealed in more ways than I can write about or you would care to read about. I just want you to be encouraged today that whatever you are going through today that He knows whats going on, He’s in control and He has a way of working everything out in His timing and He is not slow or late. Be still and rest…Enjoy something light today.
