So…earlier this morning, my boy Dave and I were chatting and he mentioned a few things that I thought had a lot of value to them. I’m not sure if he will be elaborating any of these ideas for you or not, but I wanted to share a portion of what was said with you…
Anything we share or do that doesn’t bring glory to the King, is not sharing the gospel at all… (something along those lines)
Now I know there are passages in the Bible where it says “the kingdom of heaven is near, repent and be baptized…” and the word “KINGDOM” is a word you will read often through all of our blogs because it’s kind of a vital focus. However, there is a deep truth that resides in the fact that a kingdom is only a kingdom if it is for a King… We are called to bring a gospel (good news) to people and share His love with them but if our desire to bring the king glory and if He isn’t central in it all than we are missing something…the good news
The good news is not that heaven awaits us with all of it’s splendor. It is not even that their is a way to get rid of the sin that we so often find ourselves running to. Likewise it is not that we can find a group of people who will accept us and love us or at least try to act like it. If you think that it is just there to give you a better life or more joy in this one than you’re still selling it short…
The good news is that there is a king and in Him is found mercy, grace, freedom and a delight in restoring a relationship with us…
If the king isn’t central what is there really to look forward to? We have a passionate lover that beckons a fiery bride and we often wonder why He allows everything bad to happen to us…We wonder why Jesus hasn’t returned…We wonder how a good God can do such terrible things…We pin all sorts of things on Him for various reasons…
however, when we are honest there is a paralyzing truth- He is an all-consuming zealous and extravagant lover who hasn’t returned yet because His bride doesn’t want Him back…yet
Don’t get me wrong…there are people in the slums in the DR that I bet cry out for His return even now…Tonight there will be prostitutes in Thailand crying for His return…Orphans with AIDS and no advocates who are in tears each night yearning for a love they’ve never known…Yes, the pangs have begun and have been here for some time…if not always?
Yet, no one knows the day nor the hour that He will return except the father…you want to know why Jesus doesn’t know yet? It is because He’s waiting for the Spirit and His bride to simply unify and say “come”…When that happens, He will not wait- He will come with all the fury of His love and all that can be shaken will be. That day is coming soon, but I can say with assurance and great sadness that it will not be tomorrow…BUT, the season for His return is upon us so draw near while you can…
There is a king and a lover and my beloved will receive the honor and glory and praise that He’s do…His kingdom is advancing, but remember that our hope is not in the kingdom to come but the king to come…without Him, our inheritance would be filth…
