When the Earthquake first hit here in Haiti, there was a pretty rapid response from the rest of the world. Many NGO’s and other organizations flooded in while the UN boosted its presence. However, initially there was little in the way of plans to get the increasing supply of food to the multiplying demand for it. These organizations had plenty of supply but few contacts and relationships built to get the supplies to the people without chaos breaking out. I want to tell you that there has been a ridiculous release of those supplies to the people since that time. I also want to let you know that it’s only a drop in the bucket of what needs to get done! While a lot of food and supplies are getting to the people through multiple avenues (including us) there are tremendous needs still and quite a bit that still remains in the storehouses. These life giving resources are under lock and key, guarded for safe keeping and protected from outsiders.

I met a man who is part of a group from Nebraska that is with us that made a pretty accurate insight and he’s allowed me to share it with you.

The Bible mentions that God has storehouses of wind, rain, hail, etc. My assumption is that He’s got storehouses brimming full of all sorts of good things as well. He’s got more than we could imagine and He’s given us the keys to the storehouses. However, we don’t truly understand what good things we have access to. He says we don’t have because we don’t ask and when we ask, we ask for ourselves…What would happen if we realized that people are starving for truth and good things that last longer than food? What would happen if we realized that we held the keys to get it freely? What if we actually emptied our hands so that we were in a position to free receive IN ORDER to freely give? What would happen if we realized that the wealth was in building the relationships through love instead of the stuff we “have to offer” them? My guess is that heaven would come down. Seem crazy? Well, His prayer was “on Earth as it is in Heaven” so I’m assuming that if it was His prayer, He’s going to make it happen. What needs to change is our perspective and not His.

My friend just went home and made a comment that I’m going to relay to you…She said “here in America we have everything we could want but there is no joy or hope on the people’s faces…down there they had nothing yet most had joy and hope…”

Can you stop and think about that statement for a second…She’s right!
We are the ones who are poor, blind, and naked and yet we don’t even know it…
The world is trying to come down to bless Haiti and God is bringing them here so that He can bless the nations through Haiti.
I’m fairly confident they have more to offer me than I have to offer them…but I don’t know if they know it…and I don’t                                     know if people coming down realize it…until they’re down here.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. (Psalm 84:11)
