I know some parents who really don’t want their children to grow up
being alcoholics. I’m pretty sure that’s not all that shocking.
Regardless, one of the methods of deterring their children has been to
give them a taste of it while they are pretty young. By getting a
bitter taste and a negative experience ingrained in their child, they
believe that that will be enough to deter them from drinking in the
future (or at least make them think twice about it.) Most of the time
(that I know of) this method has been quite effective. In some cases,
however, their child seemed to not only drink, but drink hard.

It won’t be very long until I get the rest of my needed immuniztaions
for the World Race. Haha, it really won’t be
that bad. Anyway, the idea of an immunization is kind of cool.
Basically, you get just a little bit of the disease that you really
don’t ever want to get. Your body gets a little sick while it finds a
way to fight it. Sometime later in your life, if you ever come in
contact with that particular disease, your body recognizes it right
away and starts fighting it so that it will affect you as little as
possible. However, just because you get an immunization, doesn’t mean
you’ll never get that disease because it is still quite possible to get
it.

Sin is a very funny…hmmm interesting is a better
word…interesting thing. Part of being human is desiring to test it to
see what it’s like. Often times, God allows us to get a taste of that
sin and the effects of it in hopes that it will leave a bitter enough
taste in our mouths that we won’t ever want to step in it again (or at
least think twice about it.) That sin is the very thing that we really
don’t ever want to have have in our lives, but end up choosing to get into regardless. We
immediately feel the effects of the sin we are in and feel the guilt we
put on ourselves. Eventually, we stop sulking and decide to get back up
and fight it. The next time we are encountered with the choice of
stepping into that sin we have a few choices:

1. Remember the bitter taste it left in our mouths the last time and choose not to do it again…

2. Recognize it at the start of the sickness, and choose to fight it before it becomes a disease…

3. Hold onto our pride and choose to get addicted to a disease that is insatiable and unfulfilling…

There were many times in my past when I found myself struggling in sin and wondering why God would let me struggle with something so deprave…However, I have come to learn that it is by His grace that He has let me get sick at times so that I may have a better understanding of how sick I truly could have become, how healing He can be and even to know myself better so that I will have the knowledge and strength to fight much stronger temptations or sins later on in my life…I guess what it really comes down to is how much do you enjoy your sin? How hard are you willing to fight against it? Are you angry at Him for letting you step into poo? Either way, sin is sin and it’s addicting, devastating and empty but unfortunately there are people that are a little slow and have to struggle with it first before we understand that…
