The team and I put together a this list of things we had never done until coming here!
1)Built a church in a down pour rain storm while building 20ft tall metal column poles
2) Jumped off a 30ft tall cliff into a waterfall (Molly, Joshua, Kristen, Bill)
3) Slept in the midst of so many barking dogs, crowing roosters, roaring cars, and bleeping car alarms
4) Seen so many attempts to cut the head off the chicken
5) Caught the chicken, cut the head off a chicken, heard the murderer scream louder than the prey, plucked the chicken, and eaten it all in one sitting (Kristen and I Cut the head off)
6) Gotten dragged up a huge, steep, slippery mountain
7) Sucked on a cocoa bean that felt like mucus
8) Eaten so much rice, plantains and yucca for breakfast lunch and dinner
9) Ridden on the back of a pick-up truck during a jungle safari while going over huge pot holes
10) Ridden on the back of a truck going through a huge banana farm
11) Peed on the side of the road in the middle of a traffic jam caused by a landslide, and then almost got run over because traffic started moving a at a rapid speed head straight for us (Kursti)
12) Barbecued and eaten every kind of meat, on a roof that looked like an abandoned building
13) Been to a 4 hour church service in spanish
14) Bought 30 pieces of fresh bread rolls for breakfast
15) Dug 5 7ft holes…twice
16) Done construction on ground that started out as a hill of grass
17) Hiked in poopy mud through the rain forest down muddy hills crossing a brook on a bamboo log just to milk a cow at 6 am (Kursti, Molly, and Kristen)
18) Ridden a natural water slide at the bottom of the 7th waterfall
19) Picked oranges from a tree and peeled them and squeezed them into a pot for juice
20) Had fresh sqeezed juice everyday three times a day
21) Held a dead chicken head while the blood drip down it (Kursti, Kristen, Ruth)
22) Gathered and peeled and cut yuca in the jungle
23) Been to the “coast” without the ocean
24) Eaten at a bungalow built on a waterfall
25) Eaten the feet of a chicken (Kristen, Joshua)
26) Seen chickens mating while using the bathroom in the Amazon (Bill)
27) Flushed a toilet using a bucket of water
28) Slept under a mosquito net
29) Traveled 8 hrs in two baby tonka trucks with 18 other people
30) Drank coke that was heated up in a microwave because it would “cure my cold” (Kursti)
31) Been to the best baby shower ever
32) Eaten at a different persons house for dinner every night
33) Bought 9 suckers, 5 chocolate bars, 3 packs of cookies and 1.75 ltrs of fanta for $6 (Ruth)
34) Been on a city bus with 45 people plus all of our packs
35) Lived with 5 other people every second of the day only parting to poop and shower
36) Straddled the equator
37) Lived in a house where 3 families live and their church is there too
38) Had a surprise birthday party from a family I have only known for a week and a half (Kursti)
39) Stood on top of a 30ft wall while holding a column and shooting a video (Joshua)
40) Crawled through brick oven
41) Danced on dirt to make it flat
42) Fallen in love with 25 people that dont even speak the same language I do.
