So this kids name is Daniel.  He has a similar story to that of Carlos, but his has a different ending in store….

This was when we met Daniel on the street for the first time

He was on a different part of the streets than Carlos when we visited him the first time.  He stayed where the drugs are a lot harder than glue and where the kids get sexually abused on a constant basis and also where a lot of the street people are HIV positive.  We met him one day and talked to him for a while, but he didn’t come with us, so we said that we would get him breakfast the next time we came out.

The following week (Monday, the 26th), we went out again looking for Daniel.  We went to where he was sleeping under a bridge, but he wasn’t there, they said he was near the zoo.  So, we went to the zoo to look for him.

We weren’t having any luck in finding him and Larry, the guy that runs the YWAM program for getting kids off the streets, was getting a little frantic.  We stopped and prayed to find him and also that we would be open to having other conversations if we were supposed to do that instead of finding him.  As soon as we finished, we started walking to leave and then Joshua spotted this kid across the street and said, “Is that him?”  Now the crazy thing is that Joshua wasn’t with us the first time we met Daniel.  Larry looked up and joy flooded his face.

We went over to him and took him to eat sonso.  That was a really good dish made of mashed yucca root (which is similar to potato) and cheese and its baked and all melty and gooey and really good.  As we were eating with him, Larry was talking to him and asking him is he wanted to go to the Toborochi House, which was the same transitional home that we tool Carlos to.

He said yes and so we loaded up and headed out there.  We stopped along the way to get supplies to cook lunch with.  Now, Daniel has TB, and at the time, we thought he also had AIDS.  We got to the house and started cooking and also playing/hanging out with him.  During the conversation and lunch, he decided to stay at the house.  PTL!!!!!!!!  This is how we left him….

Now, he is at a hospital specifically for AIDS and TB.  We found out through blood work that he doesn’t have AIDS, but he does have TB.  He is currently receiving treatment for TB and should be fine soon.  Again, Praise the LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
