We are here in Cambodia and settling in nicely. Started off rough when times decided to give me an upper respiratory infection but now that’s gone and the month is in full swing!
We teach 5 days a week at an international school in Siem Reap called BCI International School. We teach ages 4-12 which are divided into 4 different groups. The first week we shadowed many of the local or Philippine teachers and now many of us are teaching the class solo. Each day is a different topic ranging from Math, to English, Language and Science. The days are long but in the end full of great lessons and I am happy to be apart of something so small yet so impactful.
Sundays we help by creating an english version of church for the other missionaries helping the school who don’t speak Khmer (the local language) We sing a few songs, and do a talk/discussion. Believe it or not we have started a small band haha. Drew on guitar and lead singer, Joe following behind and playing the Ukulele, Mason on the Djembe and myself on the violin. It’s been a blast.
After church we head to villages and do small english classes, games and a bible lesson for the children there. It’s a sweet month and I am excited to write more about it. But for now, we will keep it simple.
Here are a few videos of our time here so far. One is made by Drew during our visit to Angkor Watt. One of the 7 wonders of the world which is just down the road! It’s a historical buddhist temple that is bigger and grandeur than anything I’ve seen despite the fact that it’s around 1,000 years old. The other is a video Joe compiled for Valentines for the ladies of our squad but you might like it because it shows all of the kids we are teaching this month.
Love you guys and thank you so much for your prayer, friendships and support. Miss y’all and keep living your race and life where you are to the fullest.
