Have you ever wanted to be like someone else?

To have their hair? To have their smile? To have their personality?

All of these wants have something in common… it’s THEIRS!!

This past week the Lord has been teaching me to embrace who He created me to be. He’s been showing me that I need to start using the gifts that He has given me. He hasn’t made me like anyone else, He has made me unique!

Psalms 139:13-16 (NIV)

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one came to be.”

I absolutely love this verse! It just puts so much into perspective. God, the creator of the universe, took the time to knit me together cell by cell, chromosome by chromosome, gene by gene. So intricately detailing every piece of who I am.

The great thing about God is that He did not just shape us physically, but he also gave each of us a unique personality and different giftings to accomplish what He wants us to do on the earth.

This past Sunday, I was driving to go play volleyball at a local church. On the way there I was just talking to God and thanking Him for being so good and for being such a wonderful maker in the way that he has created each of us so differently. He turned my attention to nature. There was a flock of blackbirds by the road and I felt Him saying, “Each of those birds are different. They may not look like it from far away but when you get closer they each have something unique about them.”

I thought that was such a good reminder! We serve a God who cares so much for his creation that He even made the birds of the air uniquely different in their own way. Everything He has created was hand crafted and placed on this earth to serve a purpose.

So let’s begin to embrace who we are! Let’s start to love the unique gifts or abilities that we have and walk in them with a boldness that only comes from Him.

Throw off the fear of man and EMBRACE the love of the Father!

Psalms 139:13-16 (The Voice)

“For you shaped me, inside and out. You knitted me together in my mother’s womb long before I took my first breath. I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe. You have approached even the smallest details with excellence; Your works are wonderful; I carry this knowledge deep within my soul. You see all things; nothing about me was hidden from You. As I took shape in secret, carefully crafted in the heart of the earth before I was born from its womb. You see all things; You saw me growing, changing in my mother’s womb; Every detail of my life was already written in Your book; You established the length of my life before I ever tasted the sweetness of it.
