Allow me to take you on a journey…

Have you ever been going through your normal life and suddenly been interrupted?

I came to CGA (center for global action) knowing that this was the place where I was suppose to be. It has been absolutely wonderful so far and I believe it was exactly what I needed to be apart of after the race.

Towards the end of the first semester of CGA, I felt like the Lord was leading me toward the opportunity to lead a trip with AIM (adventures in missions). When I felt him say this to me, I laughed out loud. You may be wondering why I would laugh at such a request. Well, that’s because of false humility. I had false humility toward the gifts/abilities that the Lord has given or developed within me.

False humility is described as thinking poorly of oneself, low self esteem, feeling inferior.

It’s so easy to look at certain circumstances in our life and immediately assume the position of false humility. For me, it was more so out of fear and a lack in confidence of my abilities.

One of my friends reminded me of the story of Sarah in the Bible. Let’s take a look at a snippet of Sarah’s story, Abraham’s wife, from Genesis 18:9-15.

9 “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him.

“There, in the tent,” he said.

10 Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.”

Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. 11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”

13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

15 Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.”

But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Genesis 18:9-15 (NIV)

I can relate to Sarah from this passage because she did what I would have done and I’m sure a lot of us would do in this situation.

We hear something from the Lord and laugh because we don’t believe that we are ready or able to do anything like what he’s asking us to do.

Well, the truth is that you probably aren’t ready and you, in your own strength, can’t accomplish what He is asking. But what I’ve learned over the years, about the Father, is that when He calls you into something deeper He begins to develop those abilities/gifts that you’ll need.

With me, the things that I was taught during the first semester of CGA and even on the race, the Lord has been asking me to put feet to it and walk it out.

Matthew 10:8b “…freely you have received; freely give.”

So without further adieu…

I have been accepted to Squad Lead in September!!

You may be wondering “what does this mean exactly?”

This means that I will be going back out on the field for 5 months and leading a world race team! I have applied, been interviewed and been accepted to help others walk in the freedom, intimacy and joy that I am walking in and continue to experience with the Father.

I feel honored to be in this position and to walk with these Jesus followers through the first five months of their race.

I have accepted the invitation and I am saying:

Bye, bye False Humility

and

Hello, True Humility

[lowly of heart – not arrogant or boastful, ready to serve, teachable]

I choose to walk this out with a teachable spirit and with a balanced view of myself.

But I can’t do this on my own. I will need the prayers and financial support from the body of Christ.

I need to raise $3,000 to go back out on the field from September through January. If you are able to give financially, you can do so with a debit or credit card by clicking on the ‘Support Me’ tab at the top of the page.

You can also give by mailing a check to:
