I’m finally here and I’m enjoying every moment of it! The travel here was quite the adventure, 4 and half hour plane ride from Detroit to Los Angeles, overnight in a motel, 14 hour plane ride to Tai Pei, Taiwan, a 4 hour plane ride to Bangkok, one hour in the back of a pickup through the city like caged gorillas, and a lastly a 14 hour bus ride, to Phuket, Thailand, my current destination. It’s been a wild ride, but an absolutely amazing experience to say the least.
This country is absolutely gorgeous, full of mountains, and breathtaking scenery. The streets are busy with life, cars flying by, motorcycles and mopeds zigzagging in and out of traffic, and people busy in their shops and perfecting their trades. It’s pretty humid and hot and if you get lucky you might get the chance to pet a monkey. It’s a whole new world here, but despite it being so different here, it’s rapidly becoming my home and my heart is already going out to these people.
I’m currently staying at the SHE (Self-help and Empowerment) ministry house, it is a remarkable ministry and the people behind it are true men and woman of God. They have a heart for woman and children caught in the commercial sex trade in Phuket and do all they can to help them get out of this industry and into a life of hope in Jesus Christ. Launch (Training Debrief) is underway and I’m learning my responsibilities as a the Finance leader of my team (Absolute Abandon). Our ministry locations have been given to us just yesterday and it appears that my team and I are leaving this Thursday to work in north-eastern Thailand, a good 24 hour bus ride away. Things are busy,but I am enjoying every detail within this trip.
