I GOT A NEW JOB!!!

Since I’ve been home from the Race I’ve had several jobs: painting, dog sitting, screen rooms, decks and actually the one I worked the most consistently has been my favorite ever…for now.

My new job is with Adventures in Missions as a Squad Mentor with the World Race. This job is a opportunity for me to grow in some huge ways and It honestly scares me a little. I keep telling my friends how funny it is that I can travel around the world and then come home and be afraid of a new job. Well thats enough of that. There will be plenty of time later to tell you how awesome, challenging, and growing my new job is. This blog is about celebration and information.

Sooooo… Ask all the questions you would like in the comments or send me a FB message if I don’t get to it below. I am beyond excited for this new journey and blessed to be able to continue working with the World Race.

What the heck is a “Squad Mentor”?

I couldn’t do this question any better justice than the awesome woman of God that was the mentor for my squad on the race. This is how she puts it.

World Race sends out around 16 squads a year. There are about 50 “racers” on a squad. I am a squad mentor for World Race squads. The leadership structure is like this:50 racers> 7 team leaders> 3 squad leaders> one squad mentor (ME!) I’m in charge of driving the spiritual formation process and discipleship of all of the world racers on the squad. I do that in the following ways:

– Training &  leading squad & team leaders

– Teaching on topics like feedback, prayer, celebration, vulnerability, leadership

– Facilitating team debriefs & conflict management

– Casting vision for the squad’s growth

I basically get to walk alongside these world-changers during the most impactful and transformational year of their lives -Carly Brown

Wait, so are you moving to Georgia?

Yes, I will commute two days a week (staying two nights for a total of 4 day in the office) until the end of the school year when Libby and I will become residents of the State of Georgia.

What about your house?

We are going to put it up for sale or rent and let the Lord handle it from there. It only took three days last time. He’s got this.

Are you going to go to more countries?

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!  I will be on the field with the squads I mentor (typically two squads per year) for debriefs which are two or three times a year per squad for about a week. This time around the ministry is all about growing, encouraging, and inspiring the missionaries on the Squad.

How can you help?

Pray

Pray for us. We are moving. I am commuting. We are selling or renting our house. Im starting a new job. Libby will need a new job eventually as well. We want to have kids or adopt very soon. Fundraising is now a part of my job.

Financial

As I said above, part of my new job is fundraising. What that means is I will need to raise $13,500 a year. Even though I am in the US most of the year, I am still a missionary.  Pray that God will increase your faith through giving as He increases my faith in His provision. If you want to have lunch and talk about how you can be a part of what God is doing through the World Race and how he is using me to mentor, lead and disciple missionaries, let me know and Ill make myself available whenever you have time.

My first milestone is  $3,500 by January 1st, 2015. We are looking for 100 partners at $12 a month and you can Click Here to give…
