A big theme that I have been learning about lately is the concept of wisdom and understanding. This is such an interesting topic for me because whenever I think about being wise I just think of old men and women who have big ears and know how to cook well. But I have realized that wisdom comes from learning from the eternal creator. The word explains that “… because he died for us we are given wisdom” (Eph 1: 7-8). The only way that we can get the true knowledge on how life should be lived is by reading the blueprints that the Lord has laid out for us. During this time, I have learned that wisdom can also mean trust in the Lord and knowing that He will support you in the hard times. Wisdom has the power to get us through any situation; whether it is praying to God for the wisdom and discernment to help me communicate to a group of 4th graders that do not speak any English or when I am given $5 a day for meals and I want to buy that $3 candy bar.

Overall wisdom is a gift that the Father will freely grant to us, we just have to open our little ears to the wise words that he is speaking to us. In the book of Proverbs, it shows us that with wisdom will come joy and happiness.

In Proverbs 3:13 Solomon states;

“Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.”

In Proverbs 3:20

“By knowledge depths are broken, and clouds drop dew.”

In Proverbs 8: 11

“For wisdom is better than rubies.”
