My parents got to fly halfway across the world to live the race with me for a week. We got to have our Parent Vision Trip in Siem Reap, Cambodia and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Seeing my parents out with me experiencing what I have been doing for the last six months was incredible. We were asked to go out into the city and evangelize. Which simply means try to share the love of Jesus and his story with the people in the markets and coffee shops that we go into. My parents were truly inspiring with this unique type of ministry. On the first day, we actually felt called to one of the massage spas in the city. My dad started talking to one of the women that works there and learned that she was Catholic and her daughter went to a Christian school nearby. The next day we walked around the city and picked up trash, and if any of you know my mom you know that she would be excellent at this job. Although she was very good at cleaning up the grounds we walked on, what inspired me was that as she walked she prayed and was in constant communication with Jesus asking him to cover the places we were going and the people we came in contact with. On the third day, we asked our tuk-tuk driver to take us to a Christian book store in the city. We bought one Bible in English and one in Khmer. Later that afternoon we went to a coffee shop and started to talk with the waitress there. She was telling us how she is from the village area but she lives in town to go to the University to learn English, and how she doesn’t think she is good it at but she wants to keep learning. So, then we said that we have a book in English and the same book in Khmer also and if she wants to read both of them to practice her English than that would help her to become better at speaking. She agreed and was surprised that we were just giving her two brand new books. She asked us what it was about and so then I said a story about a man named Jesus, and then my dad said it is the greatest story you will ever read. This experience showed me that just as I can do ministry here with the girls around me I can just as easily do it back home with the people in my own family. I was extremely blessed for my parents to come out here to be with me and I can’t believe I get to see their sweet faces again in three months. Until then, I am off to Albania where I will be working at a farm. Updates to come.
