A few weeks ago I officially decided that I was going to partake in this adventure, and I still cannot believe it. I am so thankful to my friends and family for being supportive in this decision and for encouraging me to take this crazy step in my life. Right now I am in the last semester of my senior year of high school and my last soccer season. It is bittersweet to think that I am about to finish such an important chapter in my life but I cannot wait to start this new one. Since I have not left for the trip yet it has not technically started but preparing for it has. Fundraising is a main part of the preparation that I have started, along with telling everyone that I will be going on the world race during the next school year. It is fun to see people’s different reactions to my news; most people are surprised because they were expecting to hear the name of a university not the names of the countries I will be visiting. Not a lot has happened yet for my trip but all I can say is that I am getting more and more excited as each day passes. Look for my next blog post in about a month and it will include more information on how the preparation is going and what all I have encountered during that process.
