I’ve been in Guatemala for a month, time is flying by. It’s hard to believe that this is my last country and in a little, over six weeks I will be headed back to the states. As for now, I am trying to stay where my feet are and put my all into ministry. My team has a pretty well-set routine. When we first arrived in Guatemala each team was assigned to a different village. My team was assigned to San Luisito. We are only the second team to serve in this community. Every day starts out with my morning quiet time at six. We eat breakfast at seven and then my day starts.

Mondays we leave for ministry around 8:30 and head to Abrazos de Jesus. We teach English. My team is split up in the school, two go to the elementary and two are in the high school. I am with the older kids we have one class in the morning and after it lets out my teammate Sarah and I help grade papers. We leave the school around 12:30 pm and head to a coffee shop to get WiFi so we can plan our lessons for the next week.

Tuesdays we have a Bible study called Deep Dive it is one of my favorite parts of the day. Our base elder Kevin leads it. We usually read 3-6 verses and then do a deep analysis of each verse. Right now we are going through Luke chapter four. After deep dive, we head out to our first ministry for the day at Azucena’s house. She is one of our ministry contacts who owns a hostel and lets us use it to host an English class. So on Tuesdays, we go to her house to help clean and teach her daughter Vicky English. I absolutely love this woman and her family every time we go to her house it feels like home. In the afternoon we have house visits. We meet up with Pastor Candi and she takes us to different families in the community. These house visits usually include sharing the gospel, praying over the families, and just loving them as best we can.

Wednesday means another day teaching at Abrazos de Jesus. On those days we have two English classes to teach. After we head to another contact in San Luisito Veronica she disciples young girls ages 6-15. At 2:30 we go to her house to pick the girls up and head to Azucena’s house and teach the English class.

Thursdays are Activation days at the base. The morning starts out with worship and teaching that last until about Lunch. After we head out to our community and do ATL. Basically, this means that we take time to pray and ask the Lord what he wants to do. We ask for a word or a picture or direction really anything. Then we walk in whatever direction we believe the Lord is asking us to. He always works in some crazy cool ways we always end up somewhere talking to a family or sharing the gospel with someone.

Fridays in the morning we have another Deep Dive. After my team does more ATL sometimes this just means walking through the town praying over the people. In the afternoon we go to Veronica’s house. She hosts a bible study for the girls that she disciples so we help her out with whatever she needs. For me, this usually means watching the younger ones. Most of the time all my attention goes to a little boy named Alejandro. His sister always brings him with her. He’s only four but he is so full of spunk and has way too much energy. Over the past weeks, we have become best buds!

On the weekends we have off. So I spend it either hanging around the base, taking a chicken bus to Antigua or going on some adventure around Guatemala. Thanks for reading and please pray for my team as we continue to serve here.
