My mom decided last-minute to take the day off work so that we could get some stuff done around the house.
You see, we’re about to start re-modeling the kitchen!! This has been a long time coming, and we’re all pretty excited about it. But in order for our friend to start the construction/demolition, we needed clean out a lot of things. We had some furniture we needed to move out, and fun stuff like that. So she decided to take today off, which also happens to be my day off, so that together we could get things accomplished.
Well, I had this Groupon for the Albuquerque Zoo that was about to expire, and I really wanted to use it. So late last night, I asked my mom if we could go do something fun together before we started the hard work of moving and packing things. She said yes!
This morning, we went down to the Zoo and spent a couple of hours together walking around and talking. It had been a couple of years since I’ve been to our zoo, but my mom hadn’t been there in 8 years or so. There have been a lot of changes at the zoo over the last few years, so it was fun to experience all those changes with my mom.
My favorite part of the trip? We spent about 10 minutes looking at the baby elephant. Oh, she was adorable.
After the zoo we came back home and started prepping some furniture to move to the storage unit. My friend came over to help us move the furniture.
Anyway, it’s been a simple day. Simple, but good. It was a blessing to get to spend some extra time with my mom, that’s for sure.
