So, this past week I had the opportunity to be an intern at a youth camp called Worship4Life (#W4L). Basically, the interns help at the camp by doing whatever the staff need us to do. We’re responsible for the student Bible studies in the afternoons, leading recreation games, and doing fun stuff with the students in evenings.

I attended the camp last year as a sponsor. And really, the Lord used my week up at Worship4Life to give me strength to face what would come immediately after camp. (My dad took a turn for the worse when I got home and about a week later he passed away. My time with the Lord at this camp was sweet as I leaned on Him for comfort and hope. The Lord had also started to build up relationships with some students and staff that were continued on this year.

So, like I said, I was an intern. A slightly insecure one, at that. I was by far the quietest intern up there. And I honestly didn’t know why I was there. I’m not the outgoing type, so it was hard to be around so many new people. BUT the Lord used that time to show me some things. And He used my time there to build up some of the students as well as be built up by the people around me.

While up there, one of the other interns, Grant, and I led one of the student Bible studies for three days. We had prayed and talked about going through 1 Peter chapter 1 for the week. And that’s precisely what we did. But we wanted it to be more discussion-based. We wanted to be there to answer questions, or to make corrections if someone said something that didn’t line up with Scripture. But we wanted to see the student leaders step up and lead their peers. And that’s precisely what happened. The Lord answered prayers as I sent them up. I sat there with great joy as I watched them talk through 1 Peter 1, about what it meant and the implications it had for their lives.

As I listened and watched this past week, I saw many students working through hard things in their lives. But I also saw them trusting the Lord and desiring to see Him at work in their lives. The students that I got to talk to at the end of the week said that they wanted desperately to get in the Word and know God. It was a blessing to see God stir their hearts. And it gives me great hope for what He will do in their lives.

Anyway, the week was full of blessings.
