“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine”
-“Oceans” (Hillsong United)
For the past 10 months these lyrics have been my prayer to God and my deepest desire. When I first heard this song last summer, the lyrics instantly put me at peace and ignited my soul all at the same time because it is such a perfect representation of how I want to live out my life for Christ. I want Him to send me to the places that I could never get to without His help. I want to be so strongly focused on Him that I can walk on water instead of sinking.
As I prepare to leave for training camp in only a couple hours from now, thousands of different thoughts are running crazy inside my head and I am experiencing a variety of different feelings about them all. I’m excited, hopeful, scared, nervous, happy, and anxious all at the same time. But beyond all of those feelings and thoughts, the one that keeps standing out is how amazed I am by the idea that God chose me for this adventure. I keep thinking back to all of the times I have sang the lyrics to “Oceans” with such a strong desire in my heart for God to truly take me deeper than my feet could ever wander. And now, as I prepare to take the first step of this journey called The World Race, there is not a doubt in my mind that He is doing just that and I can’t wait to see what He does next.
