What is it that I love about Thailand?
I seriously keep asking myself this question. I can sense the darkness here, 98% of the population is Buddhist with Christians making up only 1%.
I look around and I see why people call Thailand the “land of smiles” but it confuses me. Why is it that these people seem to have so much joy when they are so lost?
The longer that I am here, the more I see the heart. These people have big hearts but so many of them are hiding behind those beautiful smiles. They are hurting; they are in need of a Savior!
As I go out, I am learning what 1 Corinthians 3:16,17 really means. “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
I have God’s Spirit in me when I go out to these people so that means when I walk into a bar to love on prostitutes, I am bringing God’s holy temple into that place. And 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Not only do I bring the Holy Spirit to that place, I bring freedom!
Let me tell you, I feel it! I feel His love and power and freedom when I step into that bar. God is breaking down walls and I believe that He is going to set these girls free.
I was challenged to pray impossible prayers this month and this is mine, that every prostitute that I get the chance to love will find freedom in Jesus Christ, their Rescuer!
So why do I love Thailand?
Because I am seeing chains being broken!
