I’m finally back!
After 5 years, I have returned to Africa. There is something so right about being here. The smells, the red dirt, the colorful skirts, the beautiful smiles!
Being on the Race, we learn to be present in the moment, that the Lord has us exactly where He wants us every minute of every day. So it was not until I was at the airport in Cambodia that it hit me. I was going back to Africa!
The bus ride through the countryside of Uganda and Rwanda was beautiful. I just stared out the window taking it all in.
As soon as we arrived to our ministry site in Rwanda, I knew that I would be pushed and stretched this month. Our ministry this month is to preach!
We have church every night and that first service brought tears to my eyes. Without a single instrument, and with more people in the choir than in the congregation, we worshipped God together. The sound was magical. My heart felt like it was literally leaping out of my chest.
Every night, we take turns preaching from the Word. It’s amazing how every night the Lord shows up and speaks through us in ways we couldn’t imagine.
We are also able to go to “prostitute group” as they call it. This is a group of around 20 women who feel very stuck in this lifestyle. These women are hurting so badly and were so open and honest with us as we talked with them. After our team shared the Word with them and testimonies, the Lord moved in their hearts and 3 women accepted Christ!
We also do door to door ministry. Today was our first day and I am blown away! We split into groups and I was with Erin, Angela and our Pastor. We didn’t have a plan; we just went into it asking that the Lord give us words to say.
House after house, we ministered to people. We asked what they wanted prayer for and we were shown passages of Scripture to share with them. Every time it never failed, the Lord was speaking so strongly through us!
We came to one house and we asked the young woman what we could pray for and she said for her baby and that she would get a job and then she said she wanted to become a believer! We hadn’t said anything yet, but the Lord was already moving in her heart before we got there. We walked her though the gospel and now we can call her our sister in Christ.
Another home we went to a woman decided that she wanted to return to the Lord. She told us how she had been walking away from Him but she was done and ready to return. The Lord has already moved mountains and we have only been here for 4 days!
The Lord has been teaching me to JUST GO! I don’t have to be a preacher, I don’t have to know where everything is in the Bible, I don’t have to have all the right answer. I just have to go! He will show up, He will lead me, He will open the eyes of the blinded, He will work through me if I just go!
