Leadership 101
April 8
God has challenged me this month with a leadership position. It is a blessing but also something I was nervous about. This month we are in Thailand and our guys are having “Manistry Month” so are separated. As I prayed about how the Lord wanted me to lead, He revealed some things to me.

He showed me that while I was in the hospital, He was already preparing me. He broke me to the point that I was no longer strong enough and I had to rely on His strength. He showed me that this is something I need to do everyday. I need to give it all over to Him. This has already helped so much, you can’t be nervous when the God of the universe is in control!

He also told me to mirror Christ. How did Christ lead on earth? His way and the world’s way are very different. So I was challenged to go through Scripture and make a list of the characteristics that Christ had in His ministry.

Confident in His identity (Matthew 3:17) God says, “This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased.” This was before Jesus started His ministry. He didn’t have to earn this, but God was pleased with Him because He was His Son. I am God’s daughter so He is already pleased.

Willing to be ministered to (Matthew 4:11) After Jesus was tempted in the desert, the angels came and ministered to Him.

Loving (Matthew 5:44) He loves His enemies.

Prayer (Matthew 6:9) He goes off on His own to pray to His Father.

Compassionate (Matthew 8:2) He has compassion for the crowd and feeds them. Also all throughout Scripture, He heals and saves out of this same compassion.

Encourager (Matthew 8:10) After seeing the faith of the centurion, He tells him and the crowd that there is no one in all the land that has faith like him.

Lives in abandonment (Matthew 8:20) Jesus says that foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man does not have a place to lay His head,

Speaks with authority (Matthew 9:6b) He commands healing.

A heart for the spiritually sick (Matthew 9:12-13) Jesus says that a physician does not come for the healthy, but for the sick and so does He not come for the righteous but for the sinners.

Challenges believers (Matthew 9:37, 10:6) Jesus challenges His disciple to go out. He says that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

Tells His followers of their importance (Matthew 10:6) He speaks about the sparrows and tells them, are you not more important than these.

A shelter (Matthew 11:28-30) Jesus says He will come down and give shelter.

Rest (Matthew 14:23) He tells His disciples to rest after ministry.

Servant (Matthew 20:28) He says that the Son of Man came to serve, not to be served.

Sees the Heart (Matthew 26:12) Mary came and anointed Jesus’ feet and the disciples said what a waste is was, but Jesus saw Mary’s heart and rebuked them.

A willing heart (Matthew 26:39) When Jesus was praying in the garden, knowing all the pain He was about to suffer, He says not my will, but the Father’s.

Humble (Matthew 27:11-14) Even while being beaten and mocked, He does not fight back.

Sacrifice (Matthew 27:50) He gives up His life out of love and compassion for a world that hated Him.

Discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20) He tells His disciples to go make disciples.

God will and has already guided me in this new role. He is so good and I trust that He will truly mold me this month. I pray that God will begin to give me these traits as I strive to mirror Him everyday.

Please pray for me and my team as we go into the Red Light District where prostitution is rampant. Our ministry is to simply love this month. Many of these girls have been abused and think people only want to be with them for what they can get. We will go and love them and be their friend. We want to be Christ for them!

Please also pray for me financially and see if the Lord is leading you to give to my World Race account. I still need a little over $4,000 to be fully funded. To give financially, you are able to invest not in me, but in what the Lord is doing here in and through me. I am confident that the Lord will provide.
