We are here
to construct a building for the looms that are a part of a self sustaining
weaving industry that the women of the community here have. When I say
construct, I do not mean put the finishing paint coat on… I mean we are
starting from ground zero. The first day
we got here we busted out the hoes and shovels to clear the location of fences,
stumps, and endless thorn bushes (Africa’s ‘grass’). Then we dug a 20’x30′
trench by hand. We are currently waiting for our water tank to come and be
refilled so that we can make cement and stack up the cinder block walls. That’s
right, we’re currently without water… Welcome to Africa. If all goes as
planned, we should be close to seeing the end product by the time we leave.

We also spend
our days getting to know the many kids on the premises all hours of the day. We
aid in the food distribution, play games, and run Bible studies. There is a lot
of malnourishment and poverty, but the most eye opening thing to me has been
the joy still exuding from each of them. I am looking forward to getting to
know these kids and their specific stories this month.

crammed in a teal circular hut, and loving every second of bonding time here.
The Spring weather is amazing, and this is a great month to re-energize
physically and spiritually. We get groceries & internet access once a week
when we make the trek into Manzini.
of this World Race trip. This month is exactly what I needed to recharge and
finish these final months with a new passion. I
know I say this all the time, but I can’t thank you all enough for supporting
me and following this journey. Living in Africa for the past 3 months has
changed me in countless ways, and I thank God everyday for exposing me to the people
of these nations.
