Chances are you have heard of Mt. Everest. What all do you know about it? If you’re as geographically inclined like I am, you might not even know what country or mountain range Mt. Everest is a part of.
A good family friend, Bob Peterson, had the opportunity last March to make the trek up to Everest Base Camp with the organization ‘IDEAS’. Cool huh? I had the privilege of seeing a ‘presentation’ of Bob’s month long journey after his return. I learned a lot of new things. Apparently, Mount Everest is in the nation of Nepal in the Himalayan Mountains. And that’s just the beginning…
Over a slide show and way too many coffees at the Peterson family dining table I became completely intrigued by the culture of Nepal. After hours of viewing pictures and hearing stories from Bob, I knew without a doubt in my mind that I would travel to Nepal one day. I can’t really put my fascination with this nation into words. It was more than simply curiosity; I was really captivated. I didn’t know when, how, or what for, but I knew that I HAD to see this Nepal place in my lifetime… Everything from the villages in the Himalayas to the countless prayer flags and electrical wires.

There is a reason behind this story:
Bob Peterson and that evening of coffee & conversation around his dining room table are a huge reason I am on this trip right now. When I came across a World Race route that included Nepal, I was immediately attached to it. (of course) It may sound silly, but I really had a connection to Nepal after Bob returned from his Everest trek. It’s crazy to admit that someone else’s experience had that big of an impact on me, but it did.

Kathmandu – 2011
Nepal is already very dear to my heart and I cannot wait to see what this uniquely beautiful country has in store for me. I’m here for a reason. I only hope my stories and dining table presentations from my ‘World Race’ are as inspirational as Bob’s Everest Base Camp trek was to me. I can’t wait to share MY experience in Nepal.
Share your stories. You never know who it will impact. Thanks Bob and the entire Peterson family… For everything you are =)
