My father wrote this for me and my fellow teammates/squadmates and I wanted to share with all of you!
Over a year ago you guys decided to take on a journey that would take you to new heights. Some of you might have been driven by the emotions of traveling the world; others simply felt the need to serve humanity on a different level. Some may have been a little selfish on the decision to travel, wanting to accomplish something huge. Well, regardless how it was that you got where you are, am sure that the vision you had is a lot different than the one you have now.
To be honest I don’t really know why am writing this letter to this group of young men and women, but I felt the need to tell you all that you have become Vessels of Honor to God and to the Kingdom. Paul said in 2 Timothy 220-21 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honor and some to dishonor. 21 If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared for every good work”. To purge is to separate, to forcefully remove something. In your journey you purged your selves of gold and silver. You separated your selves from the things that at one point were the most important things in your life “your families and your friends”, I know that being separated from your families, friends and churches for so long, not being able to talk to them as much as you would like, has given you a sense of value that you never had. Not only you, but am sure that all the parents are now feeling how much they missed their kids.
This is why I say that you guys are “Vasos de Honra”. You have chosen to answer a calling, you have chosen to take a trip of faith, and you have chosen to serve instead of being served. And in reality it does not matter how you felt and what moved you to take this journey, what matters is that you are doing what God wanted you to do. What matters is that you guys went on a trip to change lives, but found out that you are the ones that have been changed.
I admire your service and your calling. God Bless you.
P.S. please tell one of your fellow racers: YOU ARE A VESSLE OF HONOR
