11 days!!!
11 days is what I have left before finishing the World Race! Woo Hoo!!
It’s been a year full of struggle, pain, laughter, tears, love, grace, forgiveness, redemption, faith, anger, sadness, and many more emotions. Most of all, it has been a year set apart to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ. These past 11 months have been the hardest and best months of my life.
To be honest, there were many nights when I questioned why I even came on this race, I questioned the purpose of it all. Then the very next day all it took was looking at the smiling face of a little orphaned girl or being able to listen to a teenager tell me their story and their hope in Christ to erase all those questions. It is so beautiful to say this year wasn’t about me, it wasn’t about how many cool places I was able to visit, or about what a difference I was making the lives of people all over the world. This year was about Jesus! This year was about sharing the Gospel with a woman who had no hope! This year was about praying for the sick child who cried himself to sleep every night. This year was about seeing the light in the eyes of an eleven year old girl when she finally realized her need for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This year taught me that it doesn’t matter where we’re at we must always be willing to preach the Gospel, not only to others but to ourselves.
The thing that I love is that July 30th is not the culmination of my missionary life, it’s the day that I get to enter a new mission field, USA. This year has taught me to truly love and appreciate our wonderful country. We are such a blessed a nation. This year has also taught me there is so much work to be done back home. We have our own battles to fight, we don’t have to fight hunger but we have to fight greed, we don’t have to worry about not having the proper medical care but we have to worry about what is killing us spiritually. We don’t have to worry about freedom of religion but we have to worry about people not knowing who Christ truly is. We may not be a country covered with religious idols everywhere we turn but we are a country filled with many idols such as beauty, wealth, and prosperity.
