I have experienced quite a range of reactions when I tell people about my trip.
"Wow! That is going to be an incredible experience."
"You are so brave, I could never do that."
"I can't wait to see how God will use you."
But I also got one that caught me off guard.
"That is stupid."
What? How can this be stupid? I am answering God's call to make disciples of all the nations. I am answering God's call to pick up my cross and follow him. But those of the world, those who do not know the love of our Lord, will be against us.
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, they will hate you. Remember the word that I said to you, if they persecuted Me, they will persecute you, because they do not know Him who sent me."
John 15:18-21
It starts now, and it won't stop. Those against us will not be bound by state-lines or continents.
But neither will we.
"Be on your guard; stand firm in fath; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love."
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily and follow me."
Luke 9:23
"Therefore, Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Matthew 28:19
