You can’t have a one sided conversation. That’s a monologue and a conversation is a dialogue. The definition of conversation is “informal interchange of thoughts, information, etc., by spoken words; oral communication between persons; talk; colloquy.”

This definition states “persons”, implying more than one individual involved. Often times I think we view our faith in the same way. God is trying to communicate with us in various ways and we’re not focused on Him or prioritizing Him enough to have the decency to respond. We fill time gaps that we could have spent in fellowship with Him with TV, video games, social media, etc. but what we could really focus on is the little parts of His conversation and Him showing His love for us.

Yesterday my squad was fasting and praying and I chose to fast technology instead of food because I have started to realize the easy foothold it has taken in my life. I fasted tv, computer, and non-essential phone activity (I just used it for work/important family communication). That day made me recognize how easy it is to create a cloud around your comfortable life and only break the cloud when you are seeking something from the Lord (an example of this was me scream/cry praying while driving the other day asking why He couldn’t just give me patience instead of endless opportunities to be patient).

Why can’t we just readjust our “busy” schedules so we can show Him as much love as He shows us? I promise you have an extra 5 minutes every morning and evening to tell God how much you appreciate Him and His creation. I know I do. I plan to do this fast more often, potentially even weekly (so join me!!(if you want, of course…no pressure)) as it will help me refocus and restructure where my true priorities lie in giving God the decency of shifting His monologue into a dialogue and just getting to sit in the privilege of having conversation with Him.

P.S. this is unrelated, but we all know how my brain works, so, I wanted to share a scripture I’ve been sitting with a lot recently and it’s very simple, but just puts into perspective how incredible our God is. It’s Deuteronomy 10:17 and it goes: “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God.”

I love you all (literally everyone that reads this… you are loved) and I look forward to maybe writing more blogs in lockdown, before re-launching, but we’ll see.
