I couldn’t help but write this blog post with the feelings I’ve had these past few days. Let me clue you in on these strong feelings I’ve been experiencing. I have been prepping for a garage sale this coming Saturday(7/21) to raise money for the World Race. I have been humbled and blown away by the people that have donated things to the sale and their generosity in giving to me. On top of that, some people have even decided to dedicate their time to come out on Saturday to help with the production of the garage sale. I just wanted to express how thankful I am to have people in my life that reflect what true giving and generosity looks like. I can’t help but give a big shout out to my lovely parents that have put in a lot of work and time to help make this garage sale happen.
Another way people have been extremely generous is by donating their money. I initially sent out a support letter earlier this year and as a result of that was showered with such generous responses. Recently, I just created a Facebook fundraiser page and already have seen people responding in such impactful ways. I am so thankful for all the people that have contributed to making this trip, a big dream of mine, possible.
It means so much to me knowing that so many people are supporting me not just financially but through emotional support and prayer. Every time I bring up my trip to someone, their face usually lights up and they typically tell me “ooh how wonderful”, “that will be an amazing experience”, or “good for you, I’m so proud of you”. These comments make me feel so loved and supported and reaffirm that this is truly God’s plan for my life. Additionally, I know so many people that have been praying for me and that is also so important to me. Prayer is powerful and can move mountains and heal the sick. I have never once doubted prayer and I am so thankful and appreciative of all the people that have continued to pray for me and my upcoming mission trip.
Finally, let me say that gratitude is something that can change your life. If you stop every day and think of one thing that you are grateful for it can dramatically change your life. Yes, there are so many reasons to get down and depressed and question the meaning of life, however, I would respond to that and say there are also so many reasons to be thankful and appreciate this life we’ve been given. It is all about how you want to look at it. The Bible tells us, “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
So again, I am choosing to be thankful and grateful, I have so many reason to be. Thank you, everyone that has supported me in one way or another for my mission trip. It means more then I can express.
Love you all,
B
