Hello everyone and Happy New Years! I hope you all have had a great start to 2018!

I am so excited to start this crazy journey of preparing for and embarking on The World Race. If you don’t know the World Race is an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries. In each country, I will be doing different kinds of service projects depending on the country’s needs. Additionally, I will be sharing the love and hope of God with vulnerable populations like women and children.

I’ve been dreaming about this trip for over three years now. I can’t believe I am actually doing it. There is so much to do before I actually get to leave in October. But I am ready to take it on. There have been a few things that have been on my heart these last couple of months that I would like to share with you. First off, I have been thinking a lot about getting the fundraising ball rolling. Fundraising is one of the biggest initial challenges I will face during this experience. A roadblock that I keep running into is this perception of time that I have on my hands. I have a little under ten months to raise $18,200! It seems like a lot of time, but I know that it will go by fast and before I know it I will be off on my journey. During winter break I had a goal of getting my support letter written and sent out to my friends and family. I am excited to say that I finally got my letters stuffed and sent out yesterday. 2 months later! Whoops! Oh well!  This was a big step in getting that fundraising ball moving and am happy to have accomplished this step. However, I know that the fundraising does not stop there. I am continuing to brainstorm fundraising ideas and if anyone of you has any good ideas please let me know. I am open to anything!

The second thing that has been on my mind is writing my first blog post. My goal is to maintain my blog for my followers throughout my World Race journey. It is a little intimidating to me to have my own blog that I have to maintain and write on every so often. But it’s important to me that I record my World Race journey from now until I get back. I know that I will look back on my posts and appreciate that I made them.  I want to invite you along with me on my journey and the best way to do that is to follow my blog.

Thank you for reading and your support for my trip.  Please continue to pray for me throughout this exciting, unknown process and journey.

Blessings,

Becca
