Hello People!

Well i’ve been in Africa for about 2 weeks now. My squad and I are staying in a small village called Harbu Chulule. It is about 2 hours southeast of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. We are staying on a compound that is owned by an organization called Hope Ethiopia. Hope Ethiopia is owned by a Canadian named Ralph. We got to spend a few days with Ralph in the beginning of the month before he had to fly back home. However, within those few days of hanging out with Ralph we learned about his heart and vision for Hope Ethiopia. It was so inspiring and I am so thankful to be here at Hope Ethiopia supporting Ralph and his ministry.

The main focus of his ministry is running and sustaining an orphanage. The kids live on the compound where we are staying at and are taken care of by local “house mothers” that stay with the kids. During our ministry days, we’ve gotten to play with the kids and do yard work projects around the property. The other day I got to weed a garden and plant some rose bushes. It was hard work, but ended up being very therapeutic. One of my favorite activities to do here at Hope Ethiopia, is to play soccer with the kids. They all know my name and love to come up and ask if I want to play futbol with them. Of course I can’t say no to them. (:

Visiting Africa, has been one of my dreams and I am so excited to finally be here (I have to keep pinching myself). It is everything i thought it would be and more. I definitely think this month will be one of my favorites for sure.

We do not have wifi or access to the internet out in the village, so I will be out of contact for the rest of the month. Thank you for continuing to follow my journey and praying for me.

More to come!

Blessings,

Becca
