With 100 days left until I leave for the field, I thought it would be fitting to write another blog post. I can’t believe how fast time is flying!!

I leave August 7th for training camp which is 10 days long in Atlanta Georgia. And then my launch date is set for October 7th.

I am so excited to say that I have reached my first fundraising benchmark of 5,000 dollars. Thank you, to everyone, that has donated and supported me. It really does make a difference.

I have started buying gear that I will need on the race. I have gotten my sleeping bag, a tent, a backpack, and sleeping pad (this one took me awhile because it was going to be my bed for a year and it had to be perfectly comfortable… I think I am 99% happy with my choice (: )  Overall, I am pretty content with the gear I have gotten so far. There are still a few things I still need to purchase including a good durable pair of hiking shoes. That is next on my list.

On a separate note, I have continued to struggle with all my feelings about leaving my world behind for a whole year. I am excited, nervous, hopeful and scared. I have really tried to practice allowing myself to feel all of these emotions without judgment and ultimately bringing them all to God. I am setting off into the unknown and that is something that scares me. However, something good is coming out of that. Those feelings I am having have pushed me to trust God that much more, and for that I am thankful. Trusting Him is an everyday decision that I consciously have to make. I am starting to realize that the only thing that will remain the same as my world changes in 100 days is God. Change is all around us whether we promote it or not. It isn’t something we can escape from. But God is constant and He is with me always and that is something that will never change. That is what I am choosing to cling to as my world begins to change.

I am so excited to start this adventure. As always keep me in your prayers and thank you for all your support.
