This month ministry looks a LOT different than past months for me. My team and I are positioned for Unsung Heroes(UH). What is UH? It’s where we spend our entire focus on finding new organisations and ministries who could possibly partner with AIM(Adventures in Missions)for future world race teams. Lots of time on google, emails, and hopefully meetings-we had a super cool encounter last night—more on that later.

I woke up this morning and climbed out of my little bunk bed, threw on my workout clothes and headed out with my friend Madi. As soon as we walk out the doors of our hostel, we are directly in the centre of the city, this beautiful little city that reminds me so much of home. It’s a mix of Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor rolled into one, but with a whole lot more character and charm and don’t forget that European vibe. We proceed to walk just a few blocks to the fitness studio where we get a killer cardio and leg day in. On our way home(back to our little hostel)we take a small detour and stop at the protein bar to grab a protein shake. Uhhh…am I currently on the world race!?

Of course the answer is yes. Yes I am on the world race. This is also my current situation. It’s beautiful and overflowing with blessings. There is convenience and comfort and beautiful sights, history, and character. Quite honestly, I could probably live here…let me just start working on that Serbian language. Part of me thought I should keep quiet on how relaxing, enjoyable, and chill this month is…I mean people supported me to do this, to be here. Aren’t I supposed to be on the floor with dirty children, building something, teaching English, working in a church, street evangelising?? No one will understand, people will assume, people will make snap judgements….etc etc.

Guess who interrupted my thoughts? You guessed it-I mean who else?! Jesus: Yes. People WILL make their own judgements. Guess what though, who are you to please? Are you building the kingdom? If the answer is yes-you are exactly where you should be. You’re doing exactly what you should be doing. You are in my will. You are making connections. Searching out opportunities diligently. It’s not always going to look like ministry or missions in the conventional sense. As you’ve learned, it can look like anything. It doesn’t have to be go go all the time. It’s okay to enjoy your time, it’s okay to spend time with your teammates, who have so quickly become your friends. Go to the gym. Lift those weights. Sit in that coffee shop. Go to bed at 8 pm. This is still your life and you still need to live it and enjoy it. I never said you have to sacrifice everything and pass up all the good things in life to live for me or be effective in ministry. I just ask that you have open hands with everything I give you, to allow it to come and go like the tide in different seasons of life and to be thankful for all of it. There’s a reason for everything and a season for more just as there is a season for less.
