This month I created a Thailand photo calendar where I take one picture a day that meets the day’s challenge. I hope this gives you a greater peek into what life and ministry looks like on the Race!
5/14 Peace
On Sunday, our team headed to the same church our children’s ministry took place the day before to give a testimony and help with the children’s program. Although we usually can’t understand sermons, there is so much peace listening to pastors passionately preach in their language.
5/15 Today I was inspired by…
this café our team found about 15 minutes from our home where I went for a few hours after ministry. The café, Arte, gave peace even though I have been overwhelmed with the feeling of restlessness lately. I was able to spend time in my Bible and also pray about plans for after the Race. Future Racers, there is always coffee. You just have to search for it sometimes.
5/16 Your Feet
Our team was taken to a plot of land that YWAM hopes to use for building their new base. We prayed over their land and also helped clear weeds and overgrown grass. It was such a privilege to walk on the ground that will eventually serve to disciple more YWAM staff.
5/17 Your Hands
After evangelism ministry, I spent some time looking for new music on YouTube. Check out this album by Gregory Alan Isakov: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSUDogiEb_Y&t=1897s.
5/18 Something That Reminds You of Home
This is our host and his little daughter named Idea. It brings the biggest smile to my face to see his patience and love for her. Our host took our team as well as his family and YWAM staff to a well-known pond to feed fish (some up to 3 feet big), and this photo was taken as he showed Idea some of the bigger fish. Watching them reminded me of when my dad used to take me on dad-daughter dates to the Chinese restaurant and we watched the coy fish swimming in the tanks next to our table.
5/19 A quote I love
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone.’ I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!” -J. R. R. Tolkien
…Sometimes I feel a bit like Bilbo and think God might be a bit like Gandalf.
5/20 The Letter B
I bought this noteBook in Vietnam after teaching my little first graders about Van Gough. It made me crave my art supplies I left at home. I now use this book to sketch or draw out Bible verses with my oil pastels.
I also wanted to include a few pics of our host’s daughters, Idea and Ice Cream, who Sylvia and I tutored in English this week.
