This month I created a Thailand photo calendar where I take one picture a day that meets the day’s challenge. I hope this gives you a greater peek into what life and ministry looks like on the Race!
5/7 Something that makes you smile
During the Race, I am the teammate constantly running up to stray dogs and building hopes of adopting every pup I see. So far, Nepal has the friendliest dogs, but we still have a few more months to change my mind.
5/8 Something old
Before launch, I purchased a Kindle knowing there was no way I could ever go a year without reading. On 5/8 I was reading “Little Women” (my something old) and complaining to my teammate Hannah about how Jo and Laurie should be together. Sometimes, community living is just sitting in bed discussing a good book.
5/9 Something New
Meet my new team, Pearls of Faithfulness (Hannah, me, Janet, Jenna, Sylvia, Paige, and Allison). In this season, I am stepping into the role of team leader to this amazing group of servant hearted women. We chose our name because pearls are precious and represent wisdom acquired by experience. We also love Ruth’s faithfulness in the Bible.
5/10 The Sky
Paige, Hannah, and I started the morning with a walk through Mahasarakham campus and an hour of prayer. This photo was taken on the way to our prayer session where we asked God to make himself known on campus, to give our team unity and vision, and to provide for our YWAM hosts.
5/11 In My Bag
There is way too much stuff in my bag. One area that I am not willing to part with is my art supplies. I have oil pastels, a sketch book, markers, glitter tape, colored pencils, and a coloring book. Future Racers, pack for who you are. I love art and can’t imagine being on the Race without my supplies.
5/12 The Morning
Every morning, the team and I arrive at the University and speak with students. They love talking with Americans and we enjoy getting to meet people our age on campus. Each time we ask if the students have heard of Jesus, the answer is either no or only a little from books and TV. We have the opportunity to bring gospel to people who have never heard it before. This picture was taken in the “American Corner” Allison and I stumbled upon. We connected well with these English speaking students and even got to see one again at the YWAM meeting that night.
5/13 The View
Saturday, the team went to a children’s program at a local church to teach songs and play games. All the kiddos are involved in the Compassion sponsorship program. This is the Pastor who proudly showed us his mango tree nets. To the joy of Pearls of Faithfulness, he treated our team to a bag full of mangos after children’s time.
