Dear Family and Friends,
It is with great delight that I am writing to you today, to share with you what God has been doing in my life! I pray this letter finds you well and that it blesses you!
Many of you have walked with me through my ugly past and have seen that for years I lived my life for myself, only seeking what would please ME. I was downright selfish and careless. I always had faith in God but never felt worthy of His grace. I still feel unworthy of His enduring love and forgiveness but have since learned to accept what He has done for us on the cross and believe that He loves me despite my past and failures. He has saved me from the self-gratifying, self-seeking girl that I once was and has transformed me into a Kingdom Woman chasing after what pleases HIM. I have become quite fond of the love and peace that I feel in the Father’s presence and now have a hunger to share His love, peace, and joy with those who are desperately in need of a Savior.
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit “Romans 14:17
I am continually being transformed from that girl who walked in the flesh to a woman who now walks in The Spirit. My heart is finally attentive to the sweet whispers of The Lord and His voice is leading me far from home-far from my comfort and the security of my job and family. He is leading me on The World Race, a program headed by Adventures in Missions, a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these.” The World Race calls Christians out of their comfort zones, requiring Luke 10-like faith, and provides the opportunity to serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities. We will preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. The route I have chosen leaves July 2015 and will be traveling to India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Swaziland, Malaysia, Botswana, Haiti, South Africa, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.
While on the race I will be backpacking between countries; all that I will have for the entire 11 months is what I can fit in my backpack. I will be challenged and stretched in many ways but God is tugging on my heart to be the hands and feet of Jesus and I have every intention on fulfilling His calling. God’s Kingdom multiplies when His children obey Jesus’ command to “Go and make disciples”, to pour themselves out to others. God is calling me to empty me of myself just as Jesus emptied Himself for us. “Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us, and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” Ephesians 5:2
As you can imagine I will be facing many challenges such as; living in new cultures, language barriers, protecting myself from illnesses, and much more but my biggest challenge is raising the required funds. The cost of the trip is 16,277 which cover oversea medical insurance, travel, lodge, and food. I am writing you this letter in hopes that you will join me as I embark on this journey. I pray that whether you choose to financially or prayerfully support me that God will bless you for your willingness to bless me. If you feel called to support me financially you can do so by going to my personal blog beccamitchell.theworldrace.org and clicking the link “support me” there you can select a one-time gift or you can support me monthly! You can also click the link “follow me”, there you can add your phone number to get text alerts or your email address to get updates on where I am, what I am doing, how you can pray for me, and will be able to keep up with all my journaling!
Thank you so much for those who support me either financially or prayerfully and for those of you who took the time to read this!
With love, Rebecca
