After moving a total of 7 times in the past 4 years (four of which were just last summer) I could probably teach a class on it. Actually, I have found getting rid of things you have kept too long and re-organizing the items you hold on to can feel pretty rewarding! Also nerdy? Yes.
This last week my time has been spent gathering boxes and packing up my things. I personally was concerned about the number of boxes I had, but my parents kept saying, “We’ll just put it under the pool table!”
Seriously, guys? Here is the situation I am workin
g with:
In my head I was picturing a similar stack of boxes in some back corner of my parents basement, or getting the big X on storage altogether once they found out how cumbersome it would be to keep it for such a long time. Then what would I do – throw a box or two in each of my friends' houses? That is annoying for everybody.
Thankfully I was wrong.
Here is the end result, with just a little help from the garage:
Pretty well consolidated huh? Once again I learn to never doubt the packing capabilities of the Smith gene pool. Thanks, Mom.
It is both freeing and humbling to know that all my stuff can fit in such a small space. As far as the ol' apartment goes, it was the first place I’ve lived in by myself, and the first place I’ve shown any TLC. The combination of these things has made moving this time really feel like leaving home. ![]()
“Snap out of it, Bec!”
You’re right, I’m good – let the transition begin!
