Here we are closing in on week two at the Seventh Spring camp in Sistarovat, Romania.  The camp director, Romie, is also the pastor of a large church in Arad.  This week his youth had their church camp and we had fun working with his staff and playing with the younger campers.

As far as “job” descriptions go, we have been split up between the guys and girls.  Us ladies have been charged with meal set up/take down, dishwashing, and overall dorm, bathroom, and grounds cleanliness.  The men are working hard on the landscape, taking down trees and wacking through insane amounts of overgrown brush.  The general idea here is that women shouldn’t/can’t lift heavy objects so don’t be surprised to find guys called into the kitchen to move and stir up big cooking pots while we watch helplessly from the side.  Haha, its kind of ridiculous we roll with it.

I have fallen in love with the kitchen staff here, especially this sweet lady named Ika.  They put in the longest hours here, and are always just a bundle of smiles when we walk in every morning.

We’ve been learning a little bit of Romanian history, and I want to share a fun fact.  Back when this place was under communism, all the houses were painted the same color: grey.  After the fall in 1989, there was a huge push for bright colors and individuality, so all the houses here are bright and bold!  Its pretty hilarious.
We are struggling for internet again, so I apologize for the lack of updates but here we are!  Next week there are no camps so our jobs will change.  The kitchen will also be closed so we’ll be making our own meals.  Should be interesting!  Until next time, chow!

PS: My straightener died before I ever had the chance to utilize it.  SADDDDDDD day.
PPS: Pictures to facebook soon!
