Big Money
In today's world, what companies come to mind when you think in terms of high success, rapid growth, and big money?  According to the July 2010 issue of Fortune Magazine, a few of the top dogs (globably) include:

 Wal-Mart . Exxon Mobile . Miscrosoft . BP . AT&T . Bank of China . Johnson & Johnson.

Other big players that jump out at me are
JP Morgan Chase . NIKE . Procter & Gamble . Google . Bank of America . Starbucks.

Sounds about right, doesn't it?  What if I told you that there was a commercial enterprise NOT on that list that was more profitable last year than Google, Starbucks, and NIKE combined?  An industry that 'employs' one million new people every year.  Curious yet?  Okay, here it is:

Human Trafficking. We know it doesn't sound good, but what do those two words mean exactly?  The United Nations defines human trafficking as, “The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation".

You may have thought slavery ended back in the 1800's, thanks to the Civil War.  However, there are more enslaved people in the world today than ever before.

So what's the good news?  Through your support, on the World Race we'll be living in countries where this practice is most prevalent: Thailand, India, and Uganda. We will be comforting and encouraging victims, and helping them find a way out.  While there is no "quick fix" to this problem, we can start by bringing hope overseas, and raising awareness back home.  Thank you for joining me in this.  I cannot wait to love on these people!

Are you a visual learner?  Me, too.  Watch this 5-minute video to get a better understanding of modern-day slavery.
