This past week we have had the opportunity to work with several different types of ministries with Pastor Armando Mesa. I have the privilege to work as a translator for my beautiful Z-Squad. We have had the opportunity to work together as an entire squad. For brevity’s sake I would like to share with you a tiny bit of each ministry.

We had the opportunity to go to one of the colonies Pastor Armando works with. There they have established soccer teams ages 6-8 and 9-11 and work regularly with them. While we were there a met a women named Elise and she told me her story and the struggles in her life. Later on, we had a message, worship and a testimony for all the boys that played that day.

Alcoholics Anonymous Honduras is a 24-hour center; they have 8 meetings daily and feed the residents there. They are typically kept there for 3-month periods. While we were there we had the opportunity to share testimonies, lead worship, and do the “Everything” Skit. Some of the boys from Zion’s Gate also shared their past struggles with alcohol and drugs.

We also went to jail this week. The women and the men split off to the different wards. This jail consisted of mainly women but we worked with the youth ranging from ages 12-18. While we were there we danced and chatted with the girls about their lives and God. Later on we joined the men and did a skit.

This week we also went to IHNFA. This is place for street kids as well as juvenile delinquents.  Most of the children there are girls. Last week we had our events for the youth planned and the unexpected happened. Some of the girls got into a big fight. We were not sure what had happened but we were sad that our day’s events had taken a bit of a down turn. After coming home from that, our squad still felt the urge to continue going weekly and to love on the children there. This week we started off with a skit, a testimony from Kirsten Pfund, worship and prayer for the girls. Afterwards we opened it up to games, our make-shift beauty salon, and craft station.

I translated Kristen Pfund's testimony.

It has been a blessing to be able to work with all these different ministries and hear the stories all these people have. But more importantly it has been a privilege to love on these people. To show them that they are worth more, worth more than what they think they are.

God sees them, and weeps. He weeps because He loves them and wants them in His arms. He wants to see them come to Him. He wants them to accept that love. Jesus doesn’t want to be on the sidelines. He wants to be active.

Is Jesus on the sidelines for you? Is He weeping because He sees your hurt? Know that He loves you just as much as He loves the people in Honduras and all around the world.
