I realize that I didn’t write very much about what the girls from Team Via Gloria and Super Mario did in Chimaltenango last month, so I will briefly fill you in. We were serving and living in a special needs orphanage called Los Gozosos.

The children that lived there are Nancy, Helen, Candy, Daniel, Christopher, Andres, Rosemary, and Lila. They range in ages from 5 to 19 years old, with Andres being the youngest and Nancy the eldest. All of the children in the home got there through different situations.

Some of the children in the home have cerebral palsy, down syndrome, half developed brains, and more. It was difficult to work with these children but it was also rewarding to be able to love on the.

Everyday (except Saturdays) we came alongside the nannies and took care of the children. We woke up every morning by 4:30 AM to help the children get started for the day.  The children would go to school on site; some of the girls would help at school and others would help with the daily chores.

Basically, we lived life alongside these children. We ate with them, we played with them, helped them take showers, woke them up, had devotionals, sang songs, and put them to sleep.

But the really heroes in this story are the nannies; Otil, Mary, Fernanda, Carolina, Ana, Magda, these ladies have worked with these children over the years. Through thick and thin these women are there continually serving and acting as mothers to the children. They are truly admirable!

Our time at Los Gozosos was not easy, but it was a pleasure to serve alongside the nannies and to be able to love on God’s beautiful creations! Here is a little video from the month:
