If you know me you know that my whole family means the absolute world to me. My mom and dad and my two sisters are my whole whole world. While being on the race the Lord has taken me on this journey going from grateful to even more grateful for my family, especially my dad. I have always loved him so much but not having him has made me realize how dang important he is to me.

The Lord told me to write a letter to him so I did;

Dear dad,

Hopefully you don’t mind me putting this on the internet, LOL. But I just wanted to brag on ya for a minute. There are so many times I have wanted a hug from you, to sit and ask for advice, or just take a ride to the gas station. I know living with 4 girls is SUCH a blast;) but I don’t think you’ll ever get the credit you deserve. So I just want to thank you.

Thank you for being patientkindexpectanthumblewillinglovinggentleambitiousgracefulstrong, and the most perfect dad to all girls.

Thank you for being the dad that has every reason to get home from work and go straight to your room but the dad that eats dinner with us and asks us about our day.

Thank you for being the dad that patiently waits outside of dressing rooms for hours at a time.

Thank you for being the dad that always looks put together and gets dressed up on Sundays.

Thank you for being the dad that always told me how much you love me after I got in trouble.

Thank you for being the dad that taught me “pretty is as pretty does”.

Thank you for being the dad that gave me attention so I didn’t have to search for it through other people.

Thank you for being the dad that wouldn’t shut up about effort and manners.

Thank you for being the dad that let me make mistakes so I could learn for myself.

Thank you for being the dad that has always led by example by putting the lord first.

Thank you for being the dad that went to all my soccer practices.

Thank you for being the dad that is so insanely proud of me no matter where I am, what I look like, or what I am doing.

Thank you for being the dad that from the start set the standard of how a husband should treat his wife.

Thank you for being the dad that will cry in church

Thank you for being the dad that loves your girls with everything in you.

I think I have taken you for granted a little bit, and I talk about you all the time. You make everyone around you better and somedays I wish I could rewind to the days we used to ride horses during the week and play soccer on the weekends. I look up to you more than you know and I think that saying “the older you get the more you’ll realize I was right” is coming true;)

Having an amazing earthly father has only progressed my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I don’t ever doubt how much the lord loves me because Ive had a first hand example of that love since I was born. And ive grown to learn that most kids can’t say that.

I have always loved when people see our family out to eat and when they realize Murphy, Sophie, and I are all yours, they just say “bless your heart” and you just smile. How they will never know how much you wanted a boy but how you wouldn’t trade any of the blonde hair, emotional breakdowns, or bachelor nights for anything.

Teaching me how to play soccer, drive, write a check, and every little thing in between. I can only pray that my husband will be half the man you are. I could go on forever but I think I’ve made my point clear;) you are the absolute best.

You deserve the world, sweet guy. Love you dad.
