I am hoping to start posting little life stories about people that I meet. Meet my friend Tankey!
Our friendship was created while scaling the mountain in Mokhotlong, Lesotho while I followed his wise advice about which path to take. Tankey is almost done with his senior year of high school, but holds the intelligence of someone much older. He loves to invest in the health of his whole community and has created a new way to warm up food without using the harmful radiation that comes from microwaves. Tankey and his steam warmer, that was hand made from scrap metal, are heading to the top competition in his area next month. He is starting his new journey of college next year in order to become a doctor because he desires to bring better healthcare to his own community. He also dreams of stepping out in faith and traveling to the United States one day. Tankey’s loving heart is shown when he says the most beautiful gift God has given him is his mother and sister. When I asked him what we can be praying for he asked me to pray that the enemy would not take away his gift of wisdom to bless his community. He also asked me to pray that the Lord would help him respect his teachers and elders. With three more weeks of ministry in Lesotho, I know the Lord will continue to bless my team’s friendship with Tankey and I can’t wait to follow his journey into furthering his faith and education.
