Month 1 of the World Race is almost over! WHAT?! We only have 7 more days here in Lesotho. Our team has been super blessed this month with extraordinary ministry hosts. Next stop is Durban, South Africa for 5 days of Debrief with our leadership, then Swaziland for 3 weeks for the ALL SQUAD (almost 60 people)!  Please pray for safe travels!

Now, on to my blog…

One thing that God has shown me this month personally is how I have been living independently. Independence rules our society and shows a sign of maturity and power. However, Independence from God is not what we are intended to live in.

I always struggled with quiet time with the Lord. While I was in college, I barely had time to sleep and eat, let alone time to stop everything and talk to God. Or so I thought…

I thought being a committed Christian meant waking up early to be in the Word, journal and talk to my Father. As long as God was at the top of my “list” of things to do in the day, then that’s all that mattered right?

Wrong…

God should not be the priority at the top of my busy list… God should be the center of my life and everything else just revolves around Him.

We are called to be in a deep relationship with The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I will never get to an intimate relationship if I am just talking to Him twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. The picture I imagined was a higher power looking down upon me waving his angry finger at me because I was trying to run my life on my own.

But this is picture is a lie.

Our Father loves us and isn’t waving his angry finger.  He created us to be one with the Trinity. His Grace runs upon us when silly humans like us mess up (which is more than I wish haha).

What does being dependent look like?

Here are a few ways that I am becoming more dependent on God. Each relationship with Christ is unique because we were all created differently. This may look different for you, so take time to see how you might be controlling your independence in your own walk with God.

  • Talking to God throughout the day… He is there literally 24/7, even if I don’t hear back from him.
  • Bringing everything (good and bad) to Him because He desires to hear my heart.
  • Handing over my struggles!!! I tend to hold on to them, thinking that I can fix it all.
  • Finding my identity through Him, and not seeking affirmation from the world for my worth.

I encourage you practice solely on God with all aspects of your life.
