First Week of ministry!
I wanted to do a vlog, but its basically impossible to upload videos here. Also, most of the ministry here is not always a great place to take videos of people.
So, I think a blog would be great! We started off ministry on Monday. Since we have such a big group (21 people), we have to split off into smaller groups of 3 for some ministry tasks. The first place I went was the soup kitchen. Harvesters Bible Church, our ministry contact this month, cooks food and then feeds anyone who would like it at the local hospital. Rice is a staple here so we served that with this “soup” stuff with cabbage, carrots, and squash. This soup is also in our daily meals that we eat at our host home.
Josh Pence gave a short word before the meal. After serving them, we went to the house where the pregnant women stay to also feed them and give them the word too. I asked our contact why they stay there, since that is not common in America. There is only 1 hospital in Mokhotlong, and the town is extremely hilly. There are also few cars here because they are so expensive and you can mostly just walk everywhere if you are in full health. The mothers come to stay at the hospital house about a month before their due date because it prevents the chance of not making it to the hospital in time if they went into labor and did not have adequate transportation.
Another group from our team went to a soup kitchen 35 km away. When they got there, they found out that the soup kitchen was not going to serve food that day. However, they were still able to minister to locals there. A woman who had very low vision approached them and asked for prayers of healing. After praying, the women could see clearly! Praise God! After this, 15 people stood up to commit their lives to Christ.
On Wednesday, we went to the prison here in Mokhotlong. Morgan and Josh Prescott gave their testimony while Braham and Andrew gave a word. We also sang English worship songs even though some of them couldn’t understand. We then asked them to come up to us if they need prayer. I was able to pray, through a translator, for two men. I am becoming more confident in praying for others which is exciting! Mariah and a few others also prayed for healing over a man’s hearing, which he gained back. She was then able to lead him in the prayer of salvation!
Oh, and a praise! So, it hasn’t rained here for two months. This country relies on rain for their food that they grow. We prayed for rain and its been raining for three days now!!! I LOVE RAIN!
Here are a few things we have done this week!
- Morning prayer at the hospital
- Prayer walks around the town
- Construction of the new Boarding house for the church/school
- Cleaning out bathrooms for the school and painting the doors.
- High school and primary school visits
Prayers:
Please pray for next weeks ministry!
