Momma, I hope this letter finds you well. I hope wherever you are and whenever you read this, your heart is filled with warmth and love. I want you to know how precious you are to me. I want you to know how valued you are by me. Most times when I pray for you, I pray that you feel overwhelmingly loved by our Father and the people around you. I pray that you feel very cherished and wanted. You deserve so much more than simple praise on an electronic document, but I wanted to publicly acknowledge just how special of a person you are to me.
You and dad raised me to pursue the heart of the Father no matter what circumstances come against me, and to serve others well with my words and actions. Oh how I’ve come to the realization more and more each day since I’ve been gone of just how selfless you are. You do all the things…and you do them in secret. You never beg for attention or recognition, but you serve your people and the Lord’s people with a gentle and good heart. Your intentions are pure, & you invite others to follow suit without even having to say a word. I’m grateful for your example.
You’ve made our house a gathering place for all. Family, friends, friends of friends and even strangers. You always greet them with a smile and often with a plate of food. You make people feel invited and wanted. You’ve made me feel invited and wanted. I think that’s a characteristic that’s hard to learn and something the Lord has specifically blessed you with. You always see people’s needs and offer them what you can…sometimes to the point of overextending yourself. Most times I pray for you I also pray that the Lord calls you into rest. I pray that He offers His shoulder for you to lay your head upon and that you accept His invitation. You’re so worthy of being cared for in the ways that you’ve always cared for others.
I’m excited to one day come home to you and hopefully serve you better than before. You are royalty, my sweet momma. You deserve a crown over your head and gold slippers under your feet. You represent humility and integrity, and I want to honor you well just as you have honored the Lord by raising four God fearing kids. You are more loved than you will ever know.
Thank you for exemplifying courage and for fighting for compassion in this world. You have healing hands and you also have healing words. Thank you for slowing down your life to hear about mine. Thank you for the prayers, the little notes you always wrote on our napkins in our lunches growing up, meal after meal after meal, patience with me as I’ve broken countless things, showing up at all of my sporting events, loving me through my years of feeling inadequate, supporting all of my ventures even when they take me thousands of miles away…I couldn’t have wished for a better mom. You’ve taught me how to be a woman of God, a secure daughter in Christ, a good sister, and hopefully, a future steadfast wife and selfless mother. You’ve given me the world& let me experience so so much. You’re the actual definition of what it means to be beautiful both on the inside and on the out. He takes so much delight in you, and He is proud of His sweet creation, as am I. I love you forever.
See you soon,
Bailee Nicole.
